Portland UK diving weekend July 18th and 19th

Minimum Diving requirements:
 
Open water. This weekend will be ideal for those wanting to give UK diving a try.
 
 
Prices: tbc but should be about £130
 
 
What’s included:
 
2 days RIB diving consisting of 2 dives per day
 
2 nights’ accommodation
 
 
What’s not included:
 
Tank and weights: We will supply this at a cost of £15 per cylinder for the weekend (you’ll only need one). You will also need to pay for air after dive one. This is about £4 per fill.
 
Equipment hire: We’re hiring equipment out at a cost of £50 for a full set with semi-dry or £60 with drysuit for the trip. Please contact the shop for individual prices.

We’re staying in the Fathom and Blues self catered bunkhouse. The hotel is a few mins walk to the dive centre. Please note the accommodation is basic and in bunk beds with communal facilities although it is clean and perfectly OK. If you would rather stay in a BnB then please contact the shop for suggestions.

Portland has a huge variety of great wrecks to choose from as well as plenty of interesting drift dives and the chance to collect some scallops! Our plan will probably to aim to take out 2 boats one for more experienced divers and another for those newer to UK diving. There will be an instructor present throughout the trip to help out and answer any questions
 
 
Water temperature will be in the region of 16 deg meaning a 5 or 7mm with overlay and hood and gloves will be more than adequate.We will be diving from a RIB which means that we’ll be coming back in between dives so you’ll be able to grab lunch and air fills then.
 
 
What equipment  you’ll need:
 
In addition to basic scuba equipment you should also have the following:
 
 
SMB and reel
 
Dive computer
 
 
Other equipment worth considering is:
 
A torch
 
A goody bag for collecting scallops!

Diving in Portland is really easy and convenient, all the pubs, hotels, air stations and boats are all within a 5 min walk of each other. We will drive down to Portland on the Friday night and head back in the afternoon on Sunday. We should be back into London by the evening. We are usually able to arrange lifts if you should require them.
