I finally made it out of the quarry and into the sea. My first UK coast dive was exhilarating and challenging all rolled one. I was a little apprehensive considering I am still new to the dry suit however my expectations were surpassed...eventually after the fun weekend in Portland.
For the record the first dive wasn't the smoothest of dives I've ever had what with the lack of visibility and not being able to see beyond your hand or tell where the bottom/wreck actually was. The challenging current just added to the fun and drama! As I am still battling with the dry suit it was a struggle to keep with my buoyancy. However I did have the support of two other buddies Thierry (who was our saving grace) and Lucy to share this experience with. They say there is nothing like being thrown in the deep end and we were the living proof.
The next day brought better conditions where it was much calmer and a beautiful sunny day bringing much improved visibility on the M2 followed by scalloping on our second dive.
Overall it was a fun packed weekend with some great company.
