Launching an surface marker bouy (SMB) from depth is on of the most important skills a diver can master after basic training is completed. However there is often no official training meaning that divers often learn by trial and error and look upon the task as problematic.
 
The PADI SMB speciality goes through all the different types of SMB and ways in which to launch them and allows you to practice with an instructor.
 
By the end of the course your confidence will have increased massively and you'll be happy to send up an SMB regardless of the situation.
